JAMESTOWN, NY — A 35-year-old Jamestown man has been arrested and charged following an investigation into a stabbing that left one person seriously injured earlier this month.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers assigned to the Second Platoon responded at approximately 10:30 p.m. on September 4, 2026, to the North Main Street area for a reported stabbing near the Riverwalk Trail.

Police located the victim, who was treated at the scene and transported for additional medical care after suffering what investigators described as serious injuries.

The Jamestown Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown Fire Department, and Alstar Ambulance.

Following further investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for David D. Rodriguez, 35, of Jamestown, charging him with Assault in the First Degree. Police allege Rodriguez stabbed the victim, causing serious physical injury.

Members of the Jamestown Police Department’s First Platoon later located Rodriguez and took him into custody.

Rodriguez was arraigned in Jamestown City Court and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail.

The charge is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
