ERIE COUNTY, NY — The Erie County Sheriff’s Office handled 2,316 complaints across its patrol districts during the reporting period of September 19 through September 25, 2026, according to the agency’s latest weekly blotter.

The week’s activity included 372 premises checks, 51 neighborhood patrols, 282 traffic stops, 252 calls assisting other agencies, and 19 warrants served.

Among the more notable incidents were a structure fire in Alden, several DWI arrests, burglary and drug-related arrests, vehicle break-ins, hit-and-run crashes, and a bicyclist-motorcycle collision that sent two people to ECMC.

Alden

September 19 — Structure Fire, Broadway: Deputies responded to an auto shop where heavy smoke and visible flames were reportedly coming from the roof. Multiple fire companies responded and extinguished the fire. The Fire Investigation Unit was requested to determine the cause.

September 21 — Assist Person, Broadway: A complainant reported that someone had left a bag containing dog waste on the hood of his truck.

September 21 — Property Damage Crash, Crittenden Road at Broadway: Two vehicles were stopped while a crossing guard entered the intersection to allow a child to cross. According to the report, the trailing vehicle began moving and rear-ended the vehicle in front. The driver of the striking vehicle was ticketed.

September 23 — Hit-and-Run, Townline Road: A vehicle described as possibly being a red Honda reportedly left the roadway, struck a mailbox and another vehicle, then left the scene.

Clarence

September 20 — Injury Crash, Strickler Road: A bicyclist reportedly failed to yield to a motorcycle while attempting to turn into a parking lot. The bicycle and motorcycle collided, and both operators were transported to ECMC for treatment.

September 21 — Criminal Mischief, Transit Road: Uniland Development staff reported that an unknown person threw a rock through a window at the Eastern Hills Mall on September 19.

September 22 — Warrant Arrest, Transit Road: Deputies responded to Just Pizza for a report of an intoxicated woman who had reportedly passed out at the bar. Deputies discovered she had an active warrant from Depew. She was taken into custody and turned over to Depew Police.

September 23 — Vehicle Entries, Countryside Court: Two vehicles, one locked and one unlocked, were reportedly entered overnight. Nothing initially appeared to have been stolen.

September 23 — Vehicle Entry, Strickler Road: A complainant reported someone went through a truck overnight. Spare change appeared to be the only property missing.

September 24 — Hit-and-Run Property Damage, Goodrich Road: A delivery driver allegedly struck the corner of a pole barn, damaging siding and a gutter, before continuing with a delivery and leaving without notifying the homeowner. The investigation remained pending.

September 24 — Larceny from Vehicle, Martin Road: Credit cards and a set of keys were reportedly stolen from a vehicle sometime September 22 or 23.

September 24 — DWI Arrest, Harris Hill Road at Main Street: Following a traffic stop for an alleged speeding violation, deputies conducted field sobriety testing. A 32-year-old Buffalo man was charged with DWI and operating with a suspended registration.

Concord / Springville

September 19 — Warrants, Drugs and Fleeing: Deputies received information that a person with two active warrants was operating a UTV near West Main Street. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the operator allegedly fled in a reckless manner.

The subject was later located as a passenger in a vehicle on Colonial Drive. Deputies reported finding a plastic bag containing suspected crystal methamphetamine while taking him into custody.

The 54-year-old Springville man was charged with:

• 3rd Degree Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer
• 2nd Degree Obstructing Governmental Administration
• Resisting Arrest
• Reckless Driving
• 2nd Degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation
• Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations

September 20 — Drug and Warrant Arrest: Deputies stopped a vehicle on Collins-Springville Road near Zoar Valley Road after observing an alleged traffic violation.

Deputies learned the driver’s license was suspended and that he had an active Amherst warrant. Deputies reported recovering a glass pipe with suspected crack residue along with cotton balls, plastic baggies containing white powder, and capsules containing suspected drug residue.

A 36-year-old Cheektowaga man was charged with 7th Degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, 3rd Degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and multiple traffic violations.

September 21 — Walmart Larceny Arrests: Deputies responded to Walmart on South Cascade Drive for a reported larceny in progress. A vehicle believed to be involved was later stopped on Route 219.

A 36-year-old Tonawanda woman and 41-year-old Tonawanda woman were each charged with 4th Degree Grand Larceny and 6th Degree Conspiracy.

September 23 — Found Property: Deputies returned a wallet and cellphone left behind at a South Cascade Drive business to the owner’s husband.

September 24 — Lost Person, Sprague Brook Park: Deputies located a woman who called 911 after becoming lost in the park and provided her with a courtesy ride back to her vehicle.

Sardinia

September 19 — DWI Arrest: After deputies reportedly observed a vehicle cross the fog line and follow another vehicle too closely near Olean Road and Lake Street, a traffic stop was conducted. A 28-year-old Delevan man was charged with DWI.

September 19 — Aggravated Unlicensed Operation: A 23-year-old Sardinia man was charged with 3rd Degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation following a traffic stop on Olean Road.

September 20 — Residential Burglary: Deputies responded to Matteson Corners Road after an RV was reportedly found with smashed windows and a welder and wire were discovered missing from a garage.

A nearby trail camera reportedly captured a photograph that assisted in identifying a suspect.

A 35-year-old Freedom woman was charged with:

• Tampering with Evidence
• 4th Degree Criminal Mischief
• Petit Larceny

Elma

September 19 — Property Damage Crash: A vehicle left Willardshire Road and struck a utility pole. The driver was ticketed for failure to maintain lane. NYSEG responded for repairs.

September 22 — Property Damage Crash, Northrup Road: A vehicle reportedly traveled the wrong way up a merge ramp and collided with another vehicle turning from Transit Road. The first driver was cited for failure to keep right and failure to yield.

September 25 — DWI Arrest, Transit Road: Deputies reported observing a vehicle passing traffic at a high rate of speed using the center turn lane. Following a traffic stop, a 26-year-old Buffalo man was charged with DWI and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Other calls included a previously unreported vehicle accident and a suspicious vehicle left at a gas station.

Grand Island

September 19 — Aggravated Unlicensed Operation: A traffic stop near Staley and Baseline roads resulted in a 47-year-old Grand Island man being charged with 3rd Degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation after deputies determined his license had been revoked.

September 19 — Larceny from Vehicle: Several hundred dollars in cash were reportedly taken from an unlocked vehicle on Briarwood Drive overnight.

September 21 — Tops Larceny: Two women were accused of leaving Tops with approximately $200 in unpaid merchandise. A 30-year-old Grand Island woman and 42-year-old Grand Island woman were each charged with Petit Larceny.

September 22 — School Bus Traffic Complaint: Deputies received complaints about motorists passing stopped school buses near Whitehaven Road. Patrols were increased in the area during commuting hours.

September 25 — Parking Lot Crash: A motor vehicle struck a motorized cart in a Tops parking lot, damaging both.

Wales

September 21 — Vehicle Break-In, Hunters Creek Park: A visitor reported that the driver’s-side window of her vehicle had been broken and her purse stolen. The case was referred to the Detective Bureau.

September 22 — Hit-and-Run Injury Crash, Big Tree Road at Two Rod Road: A Bronx woman was transported to ECMC by Wales Fire for treatment of neck and back pain following a reported hit-and-run crash.

Newstead / Akron

September 21 — Vehicle Damage, Falls Park: A visitor returned to their vehicle and discovered the rear window had been smashed. Nothing was reported stolen.

September 22 — Injured Cat: Deputies responded after an injured cat was found in the roadway near South Newstead and Stage roads. The animal was transferred to BluePearl Animal Hospital due to the severity of its injuries.

September 23 — Larceny Report: Deputies documented a report involving a cellphone that had allegedly been stolen from return packaging somewhere between Buffalo and Texas.

Marilla

September 22 — Speeding Complaint, Clinton Street: A resident reported vehicles traveling past his home at extremely high speeds, reportedly exceeding 100 mph. Deputies advised that patrols would be increased in the area.

Colden

September 21 — Missing Vehicle Located: A caller reported that his disabled vehicle was missing from Holland-Glenwood Road near Center Road. Deputies later located it near Partridge and Center roads. The complainant realized he had misremembered where the vehicle had been left.

Collins / Gowanda

September 23 — Suspicious Activity: An employee of a Buffalo Street business expressed concern about people loitering in the parking lot late at night. Deputies offered additional patrol checks of the area.

North Collins

September 25 — Homecoming Parade: Deputies provided an escort for the North Collins High School homecoming parade.

Seneca Nation Territory

September 19 — Gas Drive-Off: A gas station manager reported someone left without paying for fuel. Deputies contacted the individual, who agreed to return and pay.

September 25 — Aggravated Unlicensed Operation: A 43-year-old Cassadaga man was charged with 2nd Degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation following a traffic stop on Route 438.

Boston and Holland

The Sheriff’s Office reported routine calls for service in both communities during the reporting period.
