🚔 CHEEKTOWAGA POLICE WEEKLY PATROL BRIEFING

📅 August 24 through August 30, 2026

The Cheektowaga Police Department handled 1,356 complaints during this seven-day reporting period. As usual, we reviewed the daily blotters and selected several of the more significant incidents while leaving out routine traffic stops, false alarms, minor disputes and sensitive behavioral-health calls.

🔴 DOMESTIC INCIDENT INVOLVING A FIREARM

During the early morning hours of August 30, officers responded to a domestic incident after police were told that an ex-husband was at a residence with a gun. The report later states that a New York State Domestic Incident Report was filed and one arrest was made.

🔴 FAMILY INCIDENT INVOLVING KNIVES

On August 25, officers responded to a residence after a woman reported that her husband had butcher knives and was threatening to kill family members. Police reported locating a male outside with a knife and detaining him.

An ambulance was requested for an injury, and the report indicates that behavioral-health personnel later followed an ambulance to ECMC. Police reported no criminal charge at that point, with a referral to Youth and Family Services. A Domestic Incident Report was filed.

🚑 PEDESTRIAN STRUCK ON BROADWAY

Early August 27, police and emergency crews responded to Broadway after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

Officers reported finding a woman conscious but clearly injured. Broadway was temporarily shut down while emergency crews worked, and police followed the ambulance transporting the woman to ECMC.

The driver of the striking vehicle later requested an ambulance for reported head pain and ultimately self-transported to St. Joseph Campus.

🚔 STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED, ONE ARREST

On August 26, officers located a vehicle reported stolen and attempted to stop it in the George Urban Boulevard area.

According to the blotter, the vehicle initially did not stop but was eventually stopped near French Road and Pamela Court. One person was taken into custody.

Police reported one arrest, and the registered owner later responded and recovered the vehicle.

🚔 NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN ARREST

During the early morning hours of August 29, officers conducted a narcotics investigation on Broadway involving a Mercedes-Benz.

Miranda warnings were given, the vehicle was towed, and police reported one arrest with a police report filed.

🚗 REPORTED STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED AFTER CRASH

Also on August 29, police investigated the reported theft of a Chevrolet Malibu.

The vehicle was reported taken with its keys. Later that morning, the female suspect reportedly returned to the residence and was taken into custody. Police learned the vehicle had apparently been involved in a crash in Buffalo.

Buffalo Police had possession of the vehicle, and Cheektowaga Police reported one arrest.

🏢 BURGLARY INVESTIGATION

On August 27, officers investigated a reported break-in at a vacant commercial building on Clinton Street.

A caller reported seeing a male carrying a hammer and bag and believed he may have been attempting to steal piping or other materials. Police later reported finding damage inside the building along with pipe cutters and needles. A police report was filed.

🚙 ATTEMPTED VEHICLE THEFT AT WALDEN GALLERIA

Later August 27, police responded to the Walden Galleria after four males wearing hoodies and ski masks were reportedly seen smashing the windows of a Dodge Durango.

The incident was classified in the blotter as an attempted unauthorized use of a motor vehicle investigation.

📱 PHONE TURNED OVER IN SEX-OFFENSE INVESTIGATION

On August 28, officers were called to a Genesee Street business after a manager reported that a customer had left a cellphone behind containing what was believed to be child sexual abuse material.

Police classified the call as a sex-offense investigation, logged the cellphone as property and filed a report. No additional disposition was provided in the daily blotter.

🔫 HANDGUN MAGAZINE AND AMMUNITION FOUND

On August 26, police were called after a staff member found discarded luggage near a dumpster on Union Road.

Inside the luggage was a handgun magazine and ammunition. Police placed the magazine and rounds into property and filed a report.

🍺 DWI ENFORCEMENT

Cheektowaga Police documented multiple DWI-related arrests throughout the week.

Among them were arrests during the early morning hours of August 24, August 26, August 27, August 28 and August 30. Several vehicles were towed and held following the investigations.

🐾 ANIMAL CALLS

On August 27, police received a report of two loose huskies with tags running in the Kensington Avenue area. The Dog Warden was contacted and responded.

Early August 29, another caller reported seeing what they initially thought was a large dog resembling a wolf. Officers determined it was actually a husky wearing a collar. Police located the owner and reunited the dog with them.
