The Erie County Sheriff’s Office handled 2,356 complaints during this reporting period, including:

  • 405 premises checks
  • 73 neighborhood patrols
  • 226 traffic stops
  • 255 calls assisting other agencies
  • 13 warrants served

Below are some of the notable calls handled by deputies throughout Erie County.

🔴 NARCOTICS ARRESTS — COLLINS/GOWANDA

On August 14, deputies reported observing a suspected hand-to-hand narcotics transaction in the Buffalo Street/Aldrich Street area.

A 35-year-old Cherry Creek woman was charged with:

  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree
  • Tampering with Evidence
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree
  • Two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree

A 45-year-old Collins man was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

In a separate August 10 incident, deputies conducted a traffic stop after reportedly observing individuals switch positions inside a vehicle. Suspected narcotics were located.

A 36-year-old Angola woman was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree.

A 40-year-old Angola man was charged with Tampering with Evidence and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 7th Degree.

🔴 SUSPECTED FENTANYL & CRACK COCAINE — CONCORD/SPRINGVILLE

Deputies responded to a parking lot on South Cascade Drive on August 12 for a report of a woman slumped over in the front seat of a vehicle.

Deputies reported seeing suspected crack cocaine in plain view. Their investigation also reportedly located suspected fentanyl.

A 32-year-old Holland woman was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

🚔 29 LICENSE SUSPENSIONS — CLARENCE

During an August 8 traffic stop, deputies discovered that a 27-year-old Clarence man allegedly had 29 suspensions from 16 different dates on his driver’s license.

He was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree.

🍺 DWI ARRESTS

Several DWI arrests were reported during the week:

📍 Clarence: A 50-year-old Akron woman was charged with DWI after deputies reported observing a vehicle traveling 57 mph in a 35 mph zone.

📍 Grand Island: A 38-year-old Niagara Falls woman was charged with DWI after deputies reported observing her vehicle having difficulty maintaining its lane.

📍 Marilla: A 53-year-old Marilla man was charged with DWI after deputies reportedly observed a pickup truck failing to maintain its lane.

📍 Seneca Nation: A 68-year-old Angola man was charged with DWI after deputies investigated a collision involving two vehicles near a gas pump.

💰 $10,000 BITCOIN WARRANT SCAM — BOSTON

A complainant reported falling victim to a warrant scam and depositing $10,000 into a Bitcoin ATM.

The case was referred to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.

🚑 ATV COLLISION SENDS OPERATOR TO ECMC — WALES

Deputies investigated an injury accident on Hunters Creek Road involving a vehicle and an ATV.

According to the report, a vehicle was attempting to pass the ATV on the left when the ATV suddenly made an abrupt left turn.

The collision caused the ATV to overturn onto its side. Its operator was transported to ECMC with minor injuries.

🚑 DRIVER FOUND SUFFERING MEDICAL EMERGENCY — NORTH COLLINS

A caller reported a vehicle sitting idle at an intersection and not moving.

When deputies arrived, they determined the driver was experiencing a medical emergency.

Seneca EMS responded and transported the individual to ECMC.

🔥 BUSINESS FIRE INVESTIGATED — HOLLAND

Deputies responded to a reported business fire on Olean Road on August 8.

The building was ultimately determined to be unoccupied, and the Fire Investigation Unit was requested to respond and investigate.

🚗 INJURY CRASH — ALDEN

A vehicle traveling southbound on County Line Road reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way while crossing Broadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling on Broadway.

One person was treated by Darien Fire for a head laceration and arm pain.

🚚 FEDEX VEHICLE INVOLVED IN CRASH — BOSTON

Deputies investigated a two-vehicle crash involving a FedEx vehicle on August 14.

Both vehicles were towed, and both drivers were treated at the scene by EMS for head and neck pain.

🚨 HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATIONS

📍 Sardinia: A vehicle reportedly struck two porch posts while turning from Olean Road onto Allen Road and continued from the scene. The investigation remains pending.

📍 Newstead/Akron: An unknown vehicle struck a fire hydrant on Rapids Road, tipping it to the side. The Water Authority was notified.

🛒 SHOPLIFTING ARREST — CLARENCE

Deputies responded to Walmart for a reported shoplifting in progress.

Investigators determined a 38-year-old Buffalo woman allegedly skip-scanned approximately $38 worth of merchandise.

She was charged with Petit Larceny.

🛍️ LARCENY ARREST — SENECA NATION

Deputies responded to Gifted Cannabis for a reported larceny in progress.

The subject had been detained by Seneca Nation Marshals. Investigators alleged the individual took merchandise and passed all points of sale without paying.

A 46-year-old Dunkirk man was charged with Petit Larceny and subsequently turned over to New York State Police on an active bench warrant.

🌳 ILLEGAL DUMPING — WALES

Town officials reported that an unknown individual had allegedly dumped rolls of insulation into a creek bed on Goodleberg Road.

🐄 YES, THAT REALLY HAPPENED: COW ON THE LOOSE — SARDINIA

Deputies received a report of a cow that had gotten loose and was approaching the roadway.

Deputies contacted the owner, who responded to secure the wandering bovine.

🐈 AND THE CAT PULLED THE FIRE ALARM — BOSTON

Deputies responded to an apartment complex on Boston State Road for a fire alarm.

No smoke.
No fire.

The investigation determined that a cat had pulled a string and activated the fire alarm.

Apparently someone wanted the Fire Department to come visit. 😂🐈‍⬛🚒

🐕 GOOD NEWS TO END THE BLOTTER — WALES

A dog entered Big Tree Road and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The dog fled following the collision but was later located and, thankfully, was reported to be in good condition. The vehicle sustained bumper damage.

📌 All charges are accusations. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
