🚨⛈️ URGENT WEATHER ALERT | WESTERN NEW YORK ⛈️🚨

PLEASE BE WEATHER AWARE THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Western New York could be looking at multiple rounds of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms beginning overnight and continuing through the middle of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, strong thunderstorms may develop late tonight into early Tuesday morning, with strong winds possible.

⚠️ The greater concern comes Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night, when several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to move across Western New York.

Some of these storms may become severe.

🌬️ PRIMARY THREAT: Localized damaging wind gusts
🧊 SECONDARY THREAT: Isolated large hail
🌪️ TORNADO THREAT: Low, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out
🌧️ Heavy downpours may also create areas of poor visibility and ponding on roadways.

Areas that should remain weather-aware include:

📍 Erie County
📍 Niagara County
📍 Genesee County
📍 Wyoming County
📍 Chautauqua County
📍 Cattaraugus County
📍 Allegany County
📍 Orleans County
📍 and surrounding portions of Western and North Central New York.

‼️ NOW IS THE TIME TO PREPARE, NOT WHEN A WARNING IS ISSUED.

✅ Make sure phones and weather radios are charged
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings
✅ Secure lightweight outdoor furniture and objects
✅ Know where you will shelter if a Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Warning is issued
✅ Never drive through flooded roadways
✅ Be especially cautious if traveling during periods of thunderstorms

This does NOT mean every community will experience severe weather. Thunderstorm timing, location and intensity can change considerably, so everyone across Western New York should continue monitoring updated forecasts.

🚨 If a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued for your location, take it seriously and seek appropriate shelter immediately.
