Buffalo Community Asked to Help Make Christmas Brighter for Local Children

BUFFALO, N.Y. — This holiday season, the Buffalo community is being asked to come together and help make Christmas a little brighter for local children who may otherwise go without a gift.

Every child deserves an opportunity to experience the excitement and magic of Christmas. Every child deserves something special to open, and most importantly, every child deserves to know that someone in their community was thinking about them.

Organizers are asking individuals, families, businesses, churches, community organizations and anyone willing to help to donate new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 1 through 18.

Donations do not have to be large to make a difference.

One toy can brighten Christmas morning for one child. A family, business or organization collecting several toys can help even more. When an entire community gets involved, the impact can be tremendous.

Suggested donations can include:

Dolls and action figures
LEGO sets and building toys
Sports equipment
Board games and puzzles
Books
Arts and crafts supplies
Toy cars and trucks
Headphones and electronics accessories
Gifts appropriate for teenagers
Other new, age appropriate toys and gifts

Teenagers are especially important to remember during holiday toy drives, as gifts for older children can sometimes be harder to collect.

The goal is simple: make sure as many local children as possible have something waiting for them this Christmas.

Buffalo and Western New York have repeatedly shown what can happen when neighbors step forward to help neighbors. This Christmas is another opportunity to show local children that their community cares about them.

Whether you donate one toy, organize a collection at your workplace, ask your church or organization to participate, or simply share the effort with others, every contribution can help.
