The Jamestown Police Department reports that a Jamestown man was taken into custody Wednesday evening after officers responded to a report of a fight involving a weapon on the city’s south side.

According to police, at approximately 7:00 p.m. on July 15, 2026, officers assigned to the 2nd Platoon, along with officers working a STRIVE detail, responded to a reported fight involving weapons.

Investigators allege that Joshua B. Becker, 38, of Jamestown, swung a baseball bat in a threatening manner toward both an adult victim and a young child. Officers located Becker a short distance from the scene and took him into custody without incident.

Becker was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was held pending arraignment on the following charges:

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree

Menacing in the Second Degree

Endangering the Welfare of a Child

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
