CHEEKTOWAGA, NY — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Buffalo Station Targeting Unit arrested an individual in Cheektowaga last week who federal authorities identify as a member of the MS-13 gang.

According to a statement from federal authorities, the individual allegedly attempted to evade agents by fleeing on foot as they moved to take him into custody.

Agents pursued the individual and ultimately apprehended him without further incident, according to the agency.

Federal authorities said the individual was in the United States unlawfully and was already subject to a final order of removal.

Following his arrest, the individual was being transferred into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Enforcement and Removal Operations, commonly known as ICE ERO, for further immigration enforcement and removal proceedings.

The federal statement did not identify the individual by name or provide additional information regarding his age, nationality, alleged MS-13 involvement, or whether any new criminal charges resulted from the attempt to flee.

U.S. Border Patrol officials said agents remain focused on identifying and apprehending individuals who may pose public-safety or immigration-enforcement concerns within the Buffalo Sector.
