JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – Three adults have been arrested and several juveniles are facing pending charges after Jamestown Police responded to a disorderly incident involving reports of vandalism and curfew violations during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 15.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 2:46 a.m. to an east side residence following reports that a group of juveniles had been attacking individuals in the area and smashing windows at the home. The juveniles fled before officers arrived.

Using descriptions from witnesses, along with previous complaints and prior interactions, officers quickly located several of the juveniles at a nearby residence. While investigating, another group of juveniles was observed violating the city’s curfew ordinance and repeatedly refused officers’ commands to return home.

As officers attempted to take two juveniles involved in the original incident into custody, additional juveniles approached police vehicles and allegedly attempted to open the patrol car doors. During the incident, one juvenile reportedly attempted to flee and then tried to strike an officer before ultimately being taken into custody.

The investigation determined that three adults had allegedly failed to exercise proper control over the juveniles in their care, who police say had repeatedly been involved in criminal activity before and after curfew hours. As a result:

One adult was charged with four counts of Curfew Violation and four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Two additional adults were each charged with one count of Curfew Violation and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

All three adults were held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. The juveniles were released to guardians, and additional charges against them remain pending under New York State law.

As always, all individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
