July 25 through July 31, 2026.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office handled 2,302 complaints during this reporting period, including 337 premises checks, 131 neighborhood patrols, 258 traffic stops, 226 calls assisting other agencies, and 21 warrants served.
As always, here are some of the more notable incidents from across Erie County. Incidents are listed with the most serious first, while protecting the privacy of those involved.
π¨ Significant Incidents
π Multiple Injury Crash | Alden A three vehicle collision at Genesee Street and Crittenden Road sent two victims to ECMC and another to Oishei Children’s Hospital. Deputies reported one driver was ticketed for failing to yield while making a left turn.
π Serious Rollover Crash | Concord A rollover crash on Collins Springville Road left a vehicle approximately 25 yards off the roadway. Mercy Flight EMS transported the injured driver to ECMC with pelvis, arm, and head injuries.
π Major Narcotics Arrest | Collins/Gowanda Following a traffic stop, deputies charged two individuals after locating suspected narcotics. Multiple felony controlled substance charges and drug paraphernalia charges were filed.
π Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest | Collins A driver with 21 license suspensions was arrested after deputies also discovered suspected crack cocaine during the traffic stop.
π Evidence Tampering Charge Added Another Collins traffic stop resulted in drug possession charges after a suspect allegedly attempted to hide suspected cocaine inside a patrol vehicle while in custody.
πΊ DWI Arrest | Holland Deputies arrested a driver after observing a vehicle traveling in the wrong lane, forcing a patrol unit to take evasive action to avoid a collision.
πΊ DWI Arrest | Clarence A speeding vehicle on Transit Road led to a traffic stop and DWI arrest of an out of state driver.
π Crash Knocks Down Utility Poles | Marilla A pickup truck struck two utility poles and a tree, bringing down power lines and closing the roadway for approximately six hours while crews worked to remove the hazard.
π Vehicle Stolen, Quickly Recovered | Clarence A vehicle stolen overnight from a garage on Village Station Circle was recovered unoccupied several hours later in the City of Buffalo.
π Shoplifting Investigation | Clarence Deputies are investigating the theft of multiple clothing items from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
π³ Fraud Alert | Clarence A victim reported fraudulent credit card purchases after believing a wallet had been stolen while shopping. The investigation remains ongoing.
π¦ Package Theft | Concord Deputies documented the theft of a delivered Amazon package from a residence on Kern Road.
π Yesβ¦ That Really Happened π€ Deputies responded after three cows wandered onto Route 39 in Sardinia. A nearby tenant safely rounded them up and contacted the property owner to secure them before anyone was injured.
π And One Moreβ¦ π A 911 caller reported a vehicle being driven erratically in Holland. Deputies located the driver, who explained the swerving was caused byβ¦ a bee inside the vehicle. Sometimes the simplest explanation really is the correct one. π
