The following are some of the more significant incidents handled by the Cheektowaga Police Department during the past week. Incidents are presented with the most serious events first while protecting the privacy of victims and maintaining the integrity of ongoing investigations.

🚨 Criminal Mischief & Threats Lead to Arrest Officers investigated a criminal mischief complaint after a home window was found broken. During the investigation, the suspect allegedly sent threatening text messages stating they intended to kill the complainant and their pets. Officers later located and arrested the suspect after filing for a warrant and establishing extra patrols in the area.

🚔 Hit & Run Investigation Ends in DWI Arrest A driver fled the scene after striking another vehicle on French Road. Officers reviewed surveillance video, searched for the suspect vehicle, and ultimately took one individual into custody on DWI related charges.

🚓 Resisting Arrest After Foot Pursuit An individual attempting to flee officers on a bicycle was taken into custody after a brief pursuit. Police charged the suspect with resisting and obstructing governmental administration.

🚨 Domestic Disturbance Results in Arrest Police responded after a report that an ex-partner damaged an apartment and broke out a vehicle window. The suspect was later located and taken into custody.

👦 Missing Juvenile Safely Located An 11 year old reported missing after failing to return home was quickly located at a friend’s residence and safely reunited with family.

🚓 Customer Trouble Escalates A shoplifting complaint resulted in a coordinated response involving Cheektowaga Police and Depew Police. The suspect was located, positively identified, arrested, and charged.

🚔 Warrant Arrests Officers served multiple outstanding warrants throughout the week, taking wanted individuals into custody during proactive patrols and traffic enforcement.

🚗 Traffic Enforcement Continues Officers conducted numerous traffic stops throughout the week, issuing citations for speeding, equipment violations, inspection violations, suspended licenses, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law offenses as part of proactive enforcement efforts.

🏠 Welfare Checks Officers responded to multiple welfare checks involving individuals experiencing mental health concerns, possible medical emergencies, and citizen requests. In each case, officers ensured those involved were safe or received appropriate assistance.

👮 Community Policing in Action From assisting stranded motorists and checking suspicious vehicles to resolving neighborhood disturbances and helping residents, Cheektowaga officers remained active throughout the community during the week.

😂 Yes… That Really Happened Officers responded after a DoorDash driver became involved in a dispute with restaurant staff over a drive thru order. By the time officers arrived, the customer had left, later called back seeking police assistance to obtain the order, and was ultimately advised by phone.
