**The following list is only a sample of all the complaints handled by patrols**
Sunday 5/30/21: Total Complaints = 70
- Patrols responded to 10 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 3 Welfare Checks.
- Police responded to a fight at the Ebenezer Ale House. The suspect allegedly grabbed a female’s face inside the bar and slammed her on the ground, before he was pushed out onto the patio by employees. Once outside, the suspect punched and shoved another male, causing him to fall, hit his head and briefly lose consciousness. The male victim was taken to the hospital. The female victim was not injured. The suspect fled prior to police arrival, and has not yet been identified.
- Officers responded to an Empire Dr. business, where a deer was reported to have crashed through the front window. The caller stated the intruder was possibly still inside. Patrols, indeed, located the confused cervid inside the building. Around the same time we arrived, the security company also did. The scene was turned over to them.
- An employee of Home Depot reported someone struck his motorcycle in the parking lot during his shift, causing significant damage. Store surveillance video will be reviewed to see if it captured the striking vehicle.
- A Thorndale Ave. resident reported unknown suspect(s) stole her parking tag from inside her vehicle.
- Patrols were called to the area of Ridge Rd., where a five-year-old child had wandered away from his house. He was located safe, a short distance away, riding his bicycle. He was reunited with his mother.
- A group of youths were reported to be playing “ding dong ditch” in the Canterbury Trail neighborhood. Officers were unable to locate them.
Monday 5/31/21: Total Complaints = 74
- Patrol responded to 7 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols answered 1 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 1 Welfare Check.
- A suspicious vehicle was reported to be parked near the Laundry Lounge on Ridge Rd. Overnight. Patrols made contact with the occupant, and advised him to find a different place to sleep.
- A 27-year-old Cheektowaga man was arrested for drunk driving. An officer observed him speeding (over 60 MPH) on Union Rd. and weaving between lanes. He failed field sobriety tests, registered a .13% BAC, and became argumentative with officers. He was charged with DWI and several traffic infractions.
- A 50-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Clinton St. An officer observed a vehicle speeding. The driver’s license was found to be suspended. He was issued summonses for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree and Speed in Zone.
- A Cresthaven Dr. resident called police, stating her son was trying to break into her house. No forced entry was attempted, but the son was asked to leave, and he complied.
- Police responded to the state school campus on East & West Rd., where a group of youths were reported to be on the roof of one of the buildings. They’d wanted to explore the abandoned buildings. They were advised to leave the area and warned not to play in or on the buildings again.
- A fire was reported at the old Metzger’s Pub. There was, in fact, a small fire in one of the outside walls of the building. Police evacuated the residents of the upstairs apartments and firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. No one was hurt.
- Central Police Services received a 911 hang-up call from a Diane Dr. residence, where a woman could be heard screaming at someone to get out of her house. When our officers arrived, the complainant yelled at us to get off of her property. Her son stated there was no issue.
- A passerby reported seeing a man break into the old Perry’s Nursery on Seneca St. Patrols searched the building, but there was no one inside and no sign of forced entry.
- Two suspects shoplifted approximately $175 in energy drinks, candy and other items from Wegmans. A male suspect fled the store with the items, and was confronted by employees in the parking lot. He dropped some of the items, but got into a waiting getaway car with the rest. Neither he nor the female driver have yet been identified.
Tuesday 6/1/21: Total Complaints = 77
- Patrol responded to 16 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.
- Police responded a reckless operation call, for a vehicle driving in the wrong lane on Seneca Creek Rd. The driver was delivering newspapers. She was advised to stay on the appropriate side of the road.
- Officers responded to an accident on Circle End Dr. A man backed out of a driveway and struck a street sweeper, causing minor damage to one of its vacuum tubes.
- A Transit Rd. resident reported she received an explicit voicemail from an unknown person, and she wanted to document it. She was advised to contact WSPD if it happens again or if more information on the subject becomes available.
- Patrols were called to a disturbance on Orchard Park Rd. near Wegmans. The complainant stated he’d confronted another man about walking his dog off-leash, and a verbal altercation ensued. When we arrived, both the complainant and subject were gone.
- Two suspects, one male and one female, shoplifted an unknown amount of merchandise from TOPS on Harlem Rd. Employees were able to recover one cart of stolen goods, which contained over $575 in items. The suspects have not yet been identified.
- A male suspect shoplifted approximately $500 in Red Bull, beef jerky and candy from the Orchard Park Rd. TOPS. The unknown suspect got into the passenger side of a waiting getaway vehicle in the parking lot. Video surveillance footage will be used to identify him.
- A 35-year-old Hamburg woman was arrested, following a minor accident in the parking lot of the community center. An officer witnessed her back into another vehicle. While investigating the accident, the driver’s license was found to be suspended. She was issued summonses for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree and Unsafe Backing.
- Three female suspects shoplifted approximately $50 in merchandise from Big Lots. As they tried to leave the store, an employee asked if they wouldn’t mind paying for the items they’d concealed in their reusable shopping bags, and a verbal confrontation ensued. Surveillance video will be used to identify them.
- A woman reported someone inside a Fieldcrest Ct. house was shining a green laser pointer at her as she drove by. Police made contact with the residents; the mother stated her child would not be playing with the laser pointer again.
- Patrols responded to a disturbance at the Sunoco at Seneca St. and Transit Rd. Employees caught a female who was trying to shoplift, and she then began arguing with them. She was advised she is no longer welcome at that store.
Wednesday 6/2/21: Total Complaints = 102
- Patrol responded to 16 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols answered 1 Alarm Ringing call.
- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.
- A Center Rd. resident reported she could hear a male outside, yelling and swearing at someone. Patrols checked the area, but were unable to find any disturbance.
- A Southgate Dr. resident reported a contractor she hired to do work in her home never showed up and hasn’t repaid her deposit.
- Officers responded to French Rd. for a neighbor dispute, over one party spraying the other with a garden hose. They were advised to stay away from each other.
- A Flohr Ave. resident called police, stating he wanted his son removed from his house. The son pays rent and legally resides there; the father was advised of the process for formally evicting his son, if he wishes.
- Patrols were called to a Mineral Springs Rd. address for a neighbor dispute. The complainant stated her neighbor’s child was riding an electric scooter on her lawn. The subject as advised that when he is in the neighborhood visiting his mother, his children are not welcome to play on the neighbor’s property.
- A South Pierce St. resident reported she believed her Social Security number was compromised, when she responded to a solicitation from a fraudulent student loan consolidation company.
- A Harlem Rd. resident called 911, stating he found a bone buried in his backyard and wanted police to look at it. After examination, it was determined the bone had previously been given to the resident’s dog, who buried it.
Thursday 6/3/21: Total Complaints = 91
- Patrols responded to 9 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol answered 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 5 Welfare Checks.
- A suspicious white van was reported to have been parked on the shoulder of Seneca St. with a man sitting inside for over an hour. The vehicle was a taxicab, and the driver was waiting for his next fare.
- A Wind Mill Rd. resident called 911 stating she heard a loud crash, was home alone and was afraid to leave her room to investigate. Officers checked the house and yard; everything was in order.
- Police responded to a report of an overturned vehicle in the middle of Kelsey Dr. Upon arrival, we were approached by a man who was staggering and showing other signs of impairment. He stated he’d been driving. He failed field sobriety tests, but tested negative for alcohol. He was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired By Drugs, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent and Unsafe Lane Change.
- A Naples Dr. resident reported unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle, cut a hole in the center console, and stole a cell phone charger and possibly a blank check.
- A 24-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Harlem Rd. An officer observed him not wearing a seat belt. His driver’s license was suspended. He was issued citations for No Seat Belt and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree.
- Officers were called back to Mineral Springs Rd. for a continuation of the neighbor dispute from the day before. The subject was advised again to stay off of the complainant’s property, and stop confronting her.
- An unknown male suspect stole a swimming pool from Big Lots. Employees chased him across Orchard Park Rd., where he abandoned the merchandise. The suspect has not been identified or located. The swimming pool was recovered.
- An Indian Church Rd. resident called police, stating several of his former coworkers were at his home, refusing to leave. They’d apparently come to settle a disagreement over money. They left prior to our arrival.
- Police and firefighters responded to Mill Rd. Park for a report of a garbage can on fire. After the fire was extinguished, police observed remnants of fireworks inside the can. Several people were located in the park, but all denied setting the can on fire or knowing who did.
Friday 6/4/21: Total Complaints = 91
- Patrols responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.
- Police responded to seven motor vehicle accidents. No one was seriously hurt.
- A Lakeside Dr. resident reported his mother was causing family problems at his residence, and wouldn’t leave. She left on her own prior to officers’ arrival.
- An anonymous caller stated there were three young females trying to break into cars on Chamberlin Dr. Patrols checked the surrounding neighborhood extensively but did not locate anyone trying to enter vehicles.
- A woman called police and stated there was a group of five to ten youths standing on the bridge on Union Rd. near Southgate Plaza, looking like they were going to throw things at passing cars. Officers spoke to the youths, who were just out for a walk and were not doing anything wrong.
- A Theresa Ct. resident reported unknown suspect(s) fraudulently applied for an M&T Bank credit card and had a credit inquiry run in her name.
Saturday 6/5/21: Total Complaints = 90
- Patrols responded to 10 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol answered 6 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 4 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.
- A woman reported her vehicle was struck by a turkey while she was driving on the 219. The front windshield sustained minor damage. The driver was not hurt. The turkey was nowhere to be found.
- Police responded to Collins Ave. for a disturbance in the street. Two neighbors got into a verbal altercation. They were advised to stay away from each other.
- Officers were called to the Burchfield Nature Center for some sort of disturbance inside a vehicle in the parking lot. The occupants, a group of friends, stated that they’d had an argument, which prompted one of the passengers to storm off on her own. Patrols checked the area, but were unable to locate her.
- A man came to WSPD headquarters and reported that he was threatened by his sister-in-law’s boyfriend. No actual threats were made; the subject had told the complainant to mind his own business.
- Officers were called to a Brookside Dr. address for a report of a suspicious male removing roofing material from the driveway. The man was, in fact, a contractor who was removing the dumpster he’d temporarily placed on the property while performing a job there.
- Police responded to a neighbor dispute on Seneca St. The complainant stated her boyfriend had asked their neighbor to keep her dog away from them, which prompted the neighbor to begin yelling at the boyfriend. The neighbor had already come over and apologized when we arrived; she was advised of the town leash law.
