**The following list is only a sample of all the complaints handled by patrols**



Sunday 5/9/21: Total Complaints = 79

- Patrols responded to 14 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Patrol answered 4 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.


- Police received a report of people fighting, screaming and cussing in the parking lot of Ebenezer Ale House. When officers arrived, the lot was empty.

- A Circle End Dr. resident reported two suspicious males walked up to her house and tried her door handle. Patrols located the subjects, who mistook the complainant’s house for a friend’s house down the street. They were pointed in the right direction.

- A man called police, saying he was on Seneca St. near Royal York Gardens and needed officers’ assistance with a female. She would not get out of his car. We eventually talked her out of the car and helped her procure another ride.


- A Cherokee Dr. resident reported that unknown suspect(s) attempted to break into his house via his side door, causing two dents in the door. The door was locked, and the suspects did not gain entry.

- WSPD responded to a Harlem Rd. address for a neighbor dispute over loud noise. Officers were able to mediate a temporary resolution, and advised both individuals to follow up with their landlord.


Monday 5/10/21: Total Complaints = 66

- Patrol responded to 7 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrols answered 3 Alarm Ringing calls.

- Police responded to 4 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers were called to a Seneca St. address, where the complainant stated his keys and his child were both locked in his car. We were able to gain entry. The child was fine.


- Four town residents reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their names.

- Patrols responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident that had occurred at the Orchard Park Rd. TOPS. The victim stated the other driver initially stopped, gave her first name only, and then drove off. He followed her down Seneca St. to the city line area. He was able to get a picture of her vehicle and its license plate. Officers located the vehicle parked at a house on Hayden St. in Buffalo, and observed a woman’s wallet lying on the porch. Officers tried numerous times to call her and knock on her door, but she would not answer. The (striking) vehicle was then impounded.


- Police were called to a neighbor dispute on Stephenson St. The complainant stated the subject was driving very fast down the street and had almost struck several children who were playing on their scooters. The subject stated she would not slow down, and that the kids shouldn’t be playing in the street. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other, and the subject was advised to drive with care.

- Officers responded to four property damage motor vehicle accidents.


- Police were called to an Oakridge Dr. address for a loud music complaint. The music was not excessive when we arrived, but the subject nonetheless agree to turn it down and try to be more neighborly.


- WSPD received multiple calls about a tractor trailer speeding and recklessly weaving “all over the road” on Center Rd., last seen heading eastbound toward Union Rd. Patrols checked the area, but were unable to locate the semi.


Tuesday 5/11/21: Total Complaints = 61

- Patrol responded to 6 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Patrols answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.

- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.


- Officers performed 1 Welfare Check.

- An employee of the X-Gen sports complex called police, stating there was a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot next to his after-hours, and he was afraid to walk out to his car. Police made contact with the occupant of the vehicle, who’d played basketball there earlier and was using his phone before driving away.


- Officers were called to McDonald’s on Union Rd. for trouble with a customer, who would not leave the drive-thru window. She was unhappy with her order and the service, and was advised to take up her complaint with corporate.

- A Greenhill Ter. resident reported there was a deer stuck inside her fenced-in yard. Officers responded and were able to shoo the deer back over the fence.

- An Indian Church Rd. resident reported unknown suspect(s) broke into her basement storage area, and stole her daughter’s bicycle. She later called back to say she found the bicycle in the woods at the back of her property, and no longer needed police assistance.


- An employee of St. Matthew’s Cemetery called WSPD, asking for patrols’ help. He was digging a new grave and had to temporarily move some items from an adjacent grave, so as not to damage them, but stated there were family members on site becoming upset and threatening him because he’d moved the decorations. We spoke to everyone involved and were able to help them come to an understanding.


- A caller reported there was a suspicious male on top of a billboard on Ridge Rd. She called back minutes later, saying that another worker had joined him on the sign, and it appeared all they were doing was maintenance.


- Police responded to a two-vehicle accident involving an Orchard Park ambulance at Orchard Park Rd. and Slade Ave. The driver of the striking vehicle turned out of the gas station and cut across two lanes of traffic, striking the ambulance. She was cited for Failure to Yield the Right-of-Way. A paramedic on the ambulance suffered a small abrasion to his head.


- WSPD received a 911 call from an individual who was not speaking English. Patrols located the complainant and his family in a vehicle at Pet Supplies Plus, and ascertained that they were lost and seeking directions. We were able to guide them in the direction they needed to go.


- A Northridge Dr. resident reported her neighbor had been coming over and harassing her about drainage for the last couple of days, that he was now back at her house again and was refusing to leave. Police explained to him the proper channels for addressing his concerns with the town.


Wednesday 5/12/21: Total Complaints = 77

- Patrol responded to 6 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.

- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.


- A suspicious female riding a bicycle along Berg Rd. was reported to be going into people’s garbage cans. She was advised to stop going through other people’s trash.


- A Barnsdale Ave. woman reported that her neighbor vandalized her home with mud and grape jelly. The subject denied having done any such thing. The two have a long-standing neighbor dispute.

- The manager of Monroe Muffler reported there was a suspicious male outside the business walking back and forth into traffic, and urinating on the roadside. Officers made contact with the man, who was upset over a recent death in his family, and asked for help getting home. We gave him a ride.


- Police were called to the Orchard Park Rd. TOPS, for a shoplifter who was fleeing the store on a bicycle. He got away with more than a dozen bags of Maxwell House coffee. A search of the area for the suspect was unsuccessful.


- A Pinewood Dr. resident reported she was the victim of identity theft. An unknown suspect used her Walmart.com account to fraudulently purchase a pair of Apple Airpods.


- The manager of Kotecki’s Grandview Grove reported two youths had just run through freshly-poured concrete at the business, causing extensive damage. The contractors were able to repair most of it. The kids fled and have not yet been identified.


- An anonymous 911 caller reported that employees of a Seneca St. auto repair shop were doing “burnouts” in the street with customers’ vehicles. Officers spoke with the employees on site, who stated one customer had done a “burnout” as he was leaving. The staff were advised to tell their customers not to do burnouts.


Thursday 5/13/21: Total Complaints = 78

- Patrols responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrol answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.

- A 26-year-old Hamburg man was arrested, following what began as an assistance call. The man called police, stating his dog locked his keys in his car. When police arrived, there was no dog in the car. The man stated he’d been able to open the car and get his dog out, but then accidentally locked the keys in the car once more. It was discovered that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Cheektowaga. He was taken into custody and turned over to Cheektowaga Police on the warrant without incident.


- An officer observed an abandoned vehicle with extensive damage on the shoulder of the 400. It turned out to be stolen from the City of Buffalo. The vehicle was impounded.


- A woman reported that while staying with a friend overnight on Dwyer St., unknown suspect(s) poured gray paint all over the hood and windshield of her car.


- A 46-year-old Tonawanda man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Orchard Park Rd. An officer observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker on its windshield. The driver’s license was suspended. He was released on summonses charging him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Unlicensed Operator and Uninspected Motor Vehicle.


- A Mineral Springs Rd. resident reported his neighbor’s dog wandered his yard and bit his puppy, before he was able to separate them. This case was referred to Animal Control.


- A 21-year-old Cheektowaga woman was arrested, following a brief vehicle chase. An officer observed her using her hand-held cell phone and not wearing a seat belt. When the officer tried to pull her over, she accelerated and took off at a high rate of speed, down Clinton St. onto French Rd. She then lost control of her vehicle, which spun out and became disabled. She got out of the car as if to run, but was quickly taken into custody. She then lied to police when asked for her name. The vehicle was unregistered, uninspected, and uninsured. She was charged with Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, Reckless Driving and a slew of other traffic infractions.


Friday 5/14/21: Total Complaints = 72

- Patrols responded to 8 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Patrol answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers performed 5 Welfare Checks.


- A Wenro Pl. resident reported she is receiving harassing messages from her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend, and that the ex-girlfriend showed up to her house, was revving her vehicle’s engine, and wouldn’t leave. The subject left prior to patrols’ arrival.


- Police and EMS responded to a three-vehicle rollover crash on the 400. The driver of a northbound pickup truck blacked out, crossed into the southbound lanes, struck an SUV nearly head-on and crashed into a guide rail. The SUV rolled over and was clipped by a tractor trailer. The driver of the pickup suffered a severe arm laceration; a witness stopped and tied jumper cables onto his arm as a makeshift tourniquet before any first responders arrived on-scene. He was taken to the hospital. The driver of the SUV was not seriously hurt.


- Employees of Vara’s Dry Cleaning reported a suspicious male was loitering outside the business, harassing customers. He was advised and sent away.


- Officers responded to a second rollover accident on the 400. Witnesses said the single vehicle involved in the crash drifted onto the right shoulder, overcorrected, struck a barrier off the left shoulder, overcorrected again and veered off the right side of the expressway into a ditch, where it rolled over. The witnesses helped the driver get out. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation. His license was found to be both suspended and revoked. He was issued citations for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree, Unlicensed Operator, Moved From Lane Unsafely and Failure to Keep Right.


- Police responded to a hit-and-run accident on Center Rd. at Lind Ave. The victim stated he was stopped, waiting to turn left, when he was rear-ended by a black Ford Explorer, which then took off. Investigation continues.


- A suspicious male was reportedly yelling at passing cars on Seneca St. He had gotten lost after disembarking a bus. Patrols pointed him in the direction of his destination.

- A Waltercrest Ter. resident reported his intoxicated female friend wouldn’t leave his house. She told officers she didn’t want to drive, because she’d been drinking. We gave her a ride home.


Saturday 5/15/21: Total Complaints = 77

- Patrols responded to 8 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Patrol answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.


- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.


- A cab driver called WSPD, stating his customer was refusing to pay her fare. The fare was paid by the subject’s husband.


- Officers responded to eight property damage motor vehicle accidents. No one was injured, however, a shrub and an “Employee of the Month” sign were casualties.


- Patrols intercepted the would-be victim of a scam at M&T Bank. She was convinced that she was sending money to an online friend, to help pay for his medical bills. Although she remained unconvinced that this was a scam, we were able to intervene before she sent any money.


- Police received a 911 call reporting three males arguing and getting ready to fight in front of the FedEx store at Southgate Plaza. The disagreement evidently started over traffic and driving. Each of the men went on his way, opting not to press the matter.


- Officers were called to Plato’s Closet at Southgate Plaza, for a report of a shoplifter in the store using a knife to cut anti-theft devices off of merchandise. The male was arrested for stealing two pairs of Nike and Adidas sneakers, together valued approximately $100. The store owners then called us, stating they no longer wished to pursue charges. The male was released, but informed he was no longer welcome at the store.

- A Wildwood Pl. resident called police, stating his child’s mother was banging on his door, and he wanted her to leave. After speaking with us, she left on her own accord.


- Police received several calls about a large group of teens entering the wooded area off the dead-end of Fisher Rd. Officers interrupted their game of beer pong, and the group was dispersed.

- A 37-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Harlem Rd. An officer observed the man drive past a stop sign without stopping and turn left where a “no left turn” sign was posted. The man’s license was suspended. He was released on summonses charging him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Failure to Stop at Stop Sign, and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device.
