Sunday 4/18/21: Total Complaints = 80
- Patrols responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 3 Welfare Checks.
- A 21-year-old West Seneca man was arrested, after officers responded to a call for “shots fired.” A Mineral Springs Rd. resident reported that his neighbor had come outside with a shotgun while he and his guests were having a bonfire, yelled at them to be quiet, and fired the shotgun into a wooded area. Officers located a 12-gauge shotgun on the subject’s property. Multiple guests/witnesses identified him as the person who fired the shotgun. He didn’t deny it. He was charged with Menacing in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Prohibited Use of a Firearm, and a violation of the town ordinance for illegally discharging a firearm, released on an appearance ticket and turned over to the care of his family.
- Police were called to an Edson St. address for a neighbor dispute. The complainant stated her downstairs neighbor had been playing loud music the night before, so she loudly bounced a basketball in her apartment to annoy the subject. She alleged the subject then began banging on the walls as well as her apartment door and threatening to “beat her ass.” The subject refused to answer her door for police. The complainant was advised to call us next time, instead of trying to “get back” at her neighbor.
- A Savona Ave. resident reported unknown suspect(s) entered her house overnight, knocked over her TV, breaking it, and stole a $300 pair of Beats headphones. The suspect(s) appeared to have entered through an unlocked door. Detectives are investigating.
- A Heritage Farm Rd. resident reported his daughter was bitten by a dog while playing at a friend’s house. The girl’s parents took her for medical treatment for the bite; Animal Control will follow up with the dog’s owner.
- Patrols responded to a neighbor dispute on Main St. The complainant stated the subject wanted to fight him. The subject was intoxicated, and agreed to go inside for the evening.
- Two youths were reported to be on the roof of Allendale Elementary School. They were retrieving a ball. They were assisted off the roof and advised by officers not to climb up there again.
- Police responded to DJ Spinner’s for a report of a fight between 12-year-old girls on the roller rink. They were escorted off the property and advised they are not welcome back.
- Police responded to Wegmans for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Upon arriving, officers encountered the suspect as he was walking out of the store with a cart full of meat and seafood. He abandoned the products and ran as soon as he saw patrols. He then fled on a bicycle on Orchard Park Rd.
Monday 4/19/21: Total Complaints = 92
- Patrol responded to 13 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 1 Welfare Check.
- A Lenox Dr. resident reported a male jumped out in front of his car as he was driving on Potters Rd. The complainant thought the subject then ran into a house on his street. Officers were unable to locate the subject.
- An Aurora Ave. resident reported a suspicious vehicle had been parked in front of her house for nearly a week. It was legally parked on the street. Police made contact with the owner via telephone. She was out of town, and stated she would move her vehicle when she returned.
- Patrols responded to a disturbance on Cove Hollow, where two males were reportedly yelling at each other on a front lawn. The neighbors got into a heated discussion about politics; they were advised to either lower their voices or just change the topic.
- A Dwyer St. resident reported her 13-year-old son was approached by a suspicious male in a blue pickup truck, who offered the child a free pair of headphones. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the subject.
- Police were called to a Paxford Pl. address for a report of an unwelcome guest. The complainant stated a female subject was outside pounding on the door. We were able to persuade her to leave without further incident.
- Nine town residents reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their names.
- A man flagged officers down, stating there was an unresponsive female in a car at DJ Spinner’s. The vehicle was in “drive,” and had only been prevented from rolling out onto Orchard Park Rd. by getting hung up on a large pothole in the parking lot. The driver was visibly intoxicated. She refused to participate in field sobriety tests or give a breath sample. The 36-year-old Orchard Park woman was arrested, charged with DWI and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, and released on summonses to a sober friend.
- Several youths were reported to be climbing up a billboard near Decades. They were advised to stay off the sign, and sent home.
Tuesday 4/20/21: Total Complaints = 88
- Patrol responded to 14 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 1 Alarm Ringing call.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 5 Welfare Checks.
- An employee of Ebenezer Stop & Shop reported a suspicious female had been sitting outside the store since 5:00 AM, acting confused and asking people for money. Patrols transported her home.
- Four town residents reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their names.
- Two men came to WSPD headquarters to report a road rage incident. Each claimed the other was the aggressor and had been alternately tailgating/cutting in front of one another. They were both advised and sent their separate ways.
- Police were called to the NFTA bus stop at Southgate Plaza for a report of a male and female being loud. They stated there was no problem, they were merely having an animated conversation.
- A Flohr Ave. resident reported unknown suspect(s) stole several items from her residence while she was hospitalized, including credit and debit cards, an air conditioner, clothing and cremains.
- A man reported he was receiving voicemails from a male suspect, threatening to “put my foot up your ass.” The complainant stated he believes the calls are coming from a person to whom he was planning to sell his rental property, who became unhappy with the asking price of the house.
- A North Ave. resident reported there was a suspicious elderly male walking down the street, approaching residents and asking them strange questions. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate any such person.
- Police and firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on Angle Rd. An electrical outlet was smoldering, but the fire had not spread. The outlet was isolated, and the power was turned back on.
Wednesday 4/21/21: Total Complaints = 95
- Patrol responded to 17 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.
- A suspicious male was reported to be sitting out front of a North Ave. address. He had come there to retrieve some of his property from his friend’s house.
- A complainant called police stating he was at Speedway, and a male subject was challenging him and another customer in the store to a fight. The subject left in a vehicle southbound on Orchard Park Rd. before patrols’ arrival. We were unable to locate him.
- Police and firefighters responded to a two-car accident with injuries on East & West Rd. One car attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Sibley Dr. in front of the other, causing the collision. A passenger in the striking vehicle and the driver of the car that was struck were taken to area hospitals with head pain.
- A Sunrise Ter. resident reported unknown suspects fraudulently used his name, phone number and home address to make a hotel reservation in Raleigh, NC.
- Three town residents reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their names.
- Patrol located a boxer running loose on Covington Dr., and returned the canine to his owner.
- Officers were called to a neighbor dispute on Lein Rd. The complainant stated the neighbor’s vehicles were parked on his lawn. The cars had all been moved prior to officers’ arrival.
- A resident called police, concerned about youths sitting at the Westgate playground after dark. The kids were sitting there talking; nonetheless, they were advised town parks close at dusk and sent on their way.
Thursday 4/22/21: Total Complaints = 84
- Patrols responded to 10 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 5 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 3 Welfare Checks.
- WSPD received a 911 call reporting a single-car accident on Harlem Rd., where the vehicle possibly struck a house and a tree. The vehicle had been speeding on Harlem Rd. southbound, crossed over the opposing lane of traffic, veered off onto the lawns and damaged the landscaping in a couple of yards before coming to rest against a house. There was no damage to the house. The driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital with apparently minor injuries. The driver was issued several citations for improper lane usage, unsafe lane changing and driving to the left of pavement markings.
- A 22-year-old Depew woman was arrested, following a traffic stop on Southwestern Blvd. She was pulled over for speeding, and both her driver’s license and registration were suspended, for not having insurance. She was issued citations for Speed in Zone, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Operating Without Insurance and Operating While Registration Suspended, and released. The vehicle was impounded.
- A 42-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Seneca St. An officer observed the man’s vehicle had an expired inspection sticker on its windshield. His license was found to be suspended. He was released on tickets charging him with Uninspected Motor Vehicle and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree.
- An unknown female suspect stole $150 in merchandise from Rite Aid on Harlem Rd., including Swiffer products, Old Spice and Gatorade. She got into the passenger side of a waiting vehicle, and fled. Surveillance video will be used to attempt to identify her.
- An Indian Church Rd. resident called police, stating her landlady entered her storage unit and moved some of her property. The landlady actually moved it from a common area of the basement, where it had been blocking the boiler. She agreed to give her tenant a few days to move her belongings into her own storage area or apartment, in accordance with the terms of the lease.
- An SUV was reported to be driving on the 400 on a bare rim. Officers located the disabled vehicle on the Seneca St. exit ramp. The tire had blown as a result of extensive front-end damage previously done to the vehicle. Officers assisted the owner in moving it safely off the expressway, so it could be hauled to a junkyard.
Friday 4/23/21: Total Complaints = 74
- Patrols responded to 6 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 4 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 1 Welfare Check.
- Police were called to a Boncroft Dr. address, where a mother reported her teenaged daughter was refusing to go to school. They compromised, and agreed to do virtual learning for the day.
- The owner of Southern Classics/West Seneca Auto Repair reported that while he was away from the front desk, unknown suspect(s) entered the business, grabbed the keys for a customer’s pickup truck off the counter, and stole it. A short time later, Buffalo Police located the truck, unoccupied, at Ashley and Swinburne Sts. Neighbors pointed them to a nearby house, where they said they’d seen the driver go. The suspect was located, identified by the witnesses, arrested and charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree.
- A man reported two teenagers stole his backpack, which he’d left under a tree, while he was working out at the soccer complex. The teens were last seen fleeing on bicycles toward Parkside Dr.
- Four town residents reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their names.
- Officers received a call about a youth riding a dirt bike on the grass at West Elementary School. He was advised not to operate the dirt bike on school property.
- Police and firefighters responded to a natural gas leak at a Chamberlin Dr. address. The upstairs tenant reported her neighbor was possibly inside, and she could not get anyone to answer the door. Firefighters forced entry, and discovered a burner on the gas range had been left on. The resident was not home.
- A 32-year-old Lackawanna man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Ridge Rd. An officer observed the man not wearing his seat belt. His driver’s license and registration were both found to be suspended. He was issued citations for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree, No Seat Belt, Operating Without Insurance and Operating While Registration Suspended. The vehicle was towed.
- A Center Rd. resident called police, stating he could hear a male and female arguing in the next apartment. Patrols made contact with the sole occupant of the apartment, a female who had been asleep prior to our knocking on her door.
Saturday 4/24/21: Total Complaints = 87
- Patrols responded to 8 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 5 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 4 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.
- An anonymous complainant reported a motorcycle speeding recklessly up and down Indian Church Rd., causing a disturbance. Police stopped the motorcyclist, who stated he was testing his new exhaust. He agreed to conclude his test-drive.
- Patrols responded to a report of a fight in progress on Burch Ave. Things had calmed down when we arrived. No one wished to pursue the matter. One individual was given a ride home.
- Police received back-to-back calls from a female at the Bluebird Motel, who stated she was receiving messages on social media from an unknown person claiming to be waiting outside her door and threatening to kidnap her. Her complaint was determined to be unfounded. No threats were made. She was advised to stay off social media for the night. A friend arrived and picked her up.
- A 35-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a two-car accident on Seneca St. One of the involved parties’ driver’s license was revoked. He was issued citations for Following Too Closely, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree and Unlicensed Operator. His vehicle was impounded.
- Employees at Stat Express called police, stating a customer had just driven off without paying for gas. Officers subsequently made contact with the subject, who returned and paid for his gas. It was likely an unintentional error with his credit card.
- A Marann Ter. resident reported there was a naked male on his front porch, who was refusing to leave. When officers arrived, the subject had put his clothes back on. After overcoming a language barrier, officers assisted the male with transport to a shelter.
- Police received a report of a vehicle operating recklessly on Seneca St. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over near the old Perry’s Nursery, but it took off at a high rate of speed. A brief pursuit ensued, and was terminated when the vehicle fled into Orchard Park.
- The front desk clerk of the Hampton Inn reported a group of guests had just been robbed at gunpoint. Patrols responded to the room where the guests were staying, but they denied having been robbed or asking for the clerk to call 911. No gun was found.
- Officers were called to a Transit Rd. address, where the occupants of two cars were reportedly yelling at each other. The individuals in question stated they were just having a conversation; one party was venting about some personal issues, and the other was listening. They were sent on their way.
