From West Seneca Police Dept.:
This afternoon at around 2:40 pm a structure fire was reported on Greenfield Ave. A detached garage/workshop was fully involved upon patrol’s arrival. Several West Seneca Fire Districts (Union, Winchester, Vigilant, East Seneca, and Seneca Hose) responded to fight the blaze. The initial investigation indicates that the fire may have been ignited by gasoline draining from a motorcycle in the garage and the gas/fumes may have spread to a nearby pilot light for a heated floor. Fire investigators are on scene conducting a more thorough investigation into the cause. The garage was considered a total loss, and the fire also caused damage to the primary residence, another detached garage on the property, as well as to the garage of an adjacent property. Patrol officers were able to salvage a vehicle from the neighboring garage before it sustained any damage. Several classic cars inside the workshop were also destroyed. Damage is estimated to be over $100,000. As of 5 pm firefighters are still knocking down hotspots on the structure and traffic on Greenfield (and access to the adjoining Mayfield Dr neighborhood) is currently restricted. No injuries were reported.
