The Jamestown Police Department is pleased to hear that Michael C. Burham was captured in Berkeley County, South Carolina yesterday. The hard work and tireless efforts of all involved are without question, commendable. We will continue to work with our local, state, and federal partners to do everything possible to make sure that the victims of Burham’s actions get the justice they deserve.
We would like to thank the numerous law enforcement organizations that helped to capture Burham. The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the Dunkirk Police Department, the Warren County Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Office, the Warren County Drug Task Force, the Youngsville Bureau Police Department, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Pennsylvania State Police, the City of Warren Police - Pennsylvania, Erie County Sheriff's Office Crime Stoppers, Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, Charleston County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Summersville Police Department (SC), North Charleston Police Department, City of Charleston Police Department, Mount Pleasant Police Department, South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and any other department we may have forgotten.
We also would like to thank the citizens of New York, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina that provided numerous tips to law enforcement as well as On Patrol: Live, who aired Burham nationwide to assist in his capture.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victims, and their family and friends who were impacted by this senseless tragedy.
