Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of 24-year-old Ahmed Sabtow and 26-year-old Mohamed Sabtow, both of Buffalo, after deputies in the holding center observed the two pass contraband to incarcerated individual Abdiwahad Sabtow.
On January 24, at approximately 9:20 p.m., deputies in the holding center’s visiting area observed Ahmed and Mohamed pass a package to Abdiwahad after their contact visit. Deputies confiscated and secured the contraband from Abdiwahad, and others detained Ahmed and Mohamed as they attempted to flee the facility.
The investigation discovered the package contained matches, match strikers, and a quantity of marijuana.
The three were arrested and charged with a felony count of knowingly introducing dangerous contraband into a prison and a class-A misdemeanor of introducing contraband into a prison each.
Ahmed and Mohamed were released following their arraignment. Abdiwahad remains held without bail for an earlier arrest on kidnapping and multiple sex-related charges.
