Update - West Seneca Police Dept. Investigating A Fatal Pedestrian Accident.

On Tuesday, June 29th at 9:47pm West Seneca Police Dispatch received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Southwestern Blvd near Crofton Dr. Responding officers located the victim in the roadway and attempted lifesaving measures including CPR and the use of an AED without success. The 54 year old victim from Orchard Park, William J. Shotwell Jr, was declared deceased by paramedics at the scene. The West Seneca Police Accident Investigation Unit was on scene into the early morning hours. The driver of the striking vehicle stopped and is cooperating with the investigators. Initial investigation indicates the victim was walking in the westbound passing lane of Southwestern Blvd when he was struck. Investigators are asking that any additional witnesses who may have observed the accident or who may have surveillance or dashcam footage to please contact Lt. Pelow of the Accident Investigation Unit at 674-2280.
