Twice-convicted Drug Felon Arrested Following Raid at Minnesota Ave Residence.

Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of a twice-convicted drug felon after a brief investigation of drug activity at a Minnesota Avenue residence.

On April 21, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the Buffalo Police Department’s Intelligence Unit, observed significant drug activity at 656 Minnesota Ave.

The Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant from Buffalo City Court Judge Phillip Dabney. Before the search warrant was executed, 38-year-old Marcus Hunt of Buffalo was taken into custody following a traffic stop.

Inside the dwelling, Officers recovered approximately one-half kilo of cocaine worth roughly $50,000.00, drug packing material, a scale with residue, and a large amount of U.S. Currency. A search of a vehicle owned by Hunt parked in front of the residence discovered a loaded Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun and a loaded 9mm handgun. The investigation revealed the Glock 22 was stolen from a Georgia police officer’s personal vehicle in 2009.

Hunt is charged with:

· One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree (Class-A Felony);

· One count of Criminal Possession of a Narcotic with Intent to Sell in the Third Degree (Class-B Felony);

· Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Loaded Firearm in the Second Degree ( Class-C Felony);

· Two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class-A Misdemeanor).

Hunt is held at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.

The investigation revealed that Hunt was breaking down large quantities of crack cocaine into smaller user amounts, $10.00 and $20.00 bags, resulting in significant drug traffic at the residence.
