Traffic Stop By ECSO Results In Felony Drug Charges.

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of two individuals on June 1, 2022, following a traffic stop on Route 62 Road in the Town of Collins.


At approximately 11:21 p.m., a Deputy stopped a vehicle after observing vehicle and traffic law violations. During the investigation, the Deputy observed a large quantity of cash in the operator’s pants, two tin foil packets that fell from the passenger’s clothing, and two scales in the vehicle.


A search of 25-year-old Briella Benton of Brant (the passenger) discovered 36.5 ounces of crack cocaine and 5.5 ounces of heroin on her person. Also recovered during the search was approximately $3,575.00 in U.S. currency.


Deputies arrested and charged Benton with felony counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, criminal possession of a narcotic, and two counts of concealing evidence. She is also charged with a class-A misdemeanor criminal impersonation after providing Deputies with a different name during the investigation.


The vehicle’s operator, 25-year-old Alexander Williams of Amherst, was arrested and charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell and criminal possession of a narcotic, along with multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.


Both defendants were arraigned and released following a court appearance in Town of Collins Court.
