Tonawanda, NY – On April 9, 2021, at approximately 3:40 p.m., State Police responded to a report of an erratic vehicle on I-190 that struck the Grand Island Bridge. A witness followed the vehicle to a residence in the town of Tonawanda where State Troopers located the uninjured driver. Troopers interviewed Randy T. Gleave, 53, of Tonawanda, NY, and determined that he was intoxicated and had a suspended license.
Gleave was taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Buffalo where he refused to give a breath sample. Additionally, Gleave has a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years and is required to operate a vehicle with an ignition interlock device. As a result, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree; both Class E Felonies and Operating a Motor Vehicle with no Ignition Interlock Device; a Class A Misdemeanor.
Gleave was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Tonawanda Court on April 28, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.
