Tennessee man arrested for abusing dog at Thruway Service Area.

Sullivan, NY - On Friday, March 11, 2022, at approximately 2:00 p.m., State Police responded to the Chittenango Service Area on the Thruway, for a report of a truck driver striking a dog with a hammer.

Troopers determined that Terrence Holmes, 49, of Holladay, TN, had struck his dog multiple times with a metal wrench, causing injuries to the animal. Witnesses observed Holmes striking the dog and called 911, prompting the response and investigation.

Holmes was arrested and processed at SP Syracuse where he was charged with Animal Cruelty (Torturing/Injuring an Animal); a Misdemeanor under the Agriculture and Markets Law. Holmes was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Sullivan Court on March 22, 2022, at 4:00 p.m.

The dog was secured by the Town of Sullivan Animal Control Officer and transported for evaluation.
