Man Brandishing Knife at Downtown Library Arrested.

Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports deputies arrested 25-year-old Terry Austin of the City of Tonawanda on January 25 following two separate incidents at the main library branch in Buffalo.

On January 24, 2023, deputies responded to an incident at the library where a subject menaced a victim with a large knife. The subject left the building, and the deputies’ search of the surrounding area had negative results.

At approximately Noon on January 25, Deputies were dispatched to the library again for reports the subject had returned. When confronted by a security guard, the subject displayed a knife and left the library. Deputies located Austin outside of the building and detained the individual.

Subsequent to their investigation, Austin was arrested and charged with a Class A misdemeanor of menacing-2nd – weapon.

Austin was processed and released on appearance tickets.
