Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports that incarcerated individual Anthony Ortiz of the City of Tonawanda was arrested and charged on January 24 after he threw an unknown liquid onto a sergeant at the holding center.
While in a housing unit on Tuesday, a sergeant was speaking to an individual when an apple was thrown at the sergeant. When the sergeant was investigating who threw the apple, Ortiz threw a container full of an unknown liquid striking the sergeant. Ortiz was attempting to throw another container when he was detained.
Ortiz was arrested and charged with one count of harassment. The defendant is held without bail following a January 21 arrest on felony gun charges.
