Erie County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Logs for Grand Island from 12/19 Through 12/25.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office responded to 278 calls the week of this report.  


12/19

UUMV/Recovered

Baseline Rd.

Deputies received a call from a male stating that his pickup truck was taken overnight. Deputies also received a call about a damaged parked car around the corner from that residence. OnStar was used to find the truck on the churches lawn up the street stuck in the mud. Truck had damage consistent with the parked car so the thieves apparently drove it recklessly. Truck was returned to owner and an accident report was completed.

Larceny

Blackberry’s

Deputies were called to Blackberry’s restaurant for a stolen motorcycle lift from out back. Video showed what looked like a red Kia Sedona van around 11:53PM Friday night load the lift and leave. Deputies took a report and a few days later that van was spotted at another residence and the owner was questioned. The lift was still in the back of his van. The lift owner only wanted it back and did not wish to file charges against the scrapper who thought it was garbage.

Accident/DWI Alcohol

East River Rd.

Deputies received a call about a vehicle striking mailboxes and getting stuck. When deputies arrived it was obvious that the driver, Daniel Gruber (21), was highly intoxicated. Daniel was transported to the substation and his BAC was registered at .27, which is more than 3 times the legal limit. Daniel was processed and released to his parents.

Violent Domestic

Grand Island Bd.

Deputies received a call from daughter that her mom and dad were fighting and that mom pulled a knife on him. Daughter said mother was intoxicated but just left in her vehicle. Deputies responded and checked everyone out. Mother was stopped by City of Tonawanda Police and detained. A DIR was completed, mother was arrested and transported to the ECHC pending arraignment.

Accident/ Car vs. Bicycle

Baseline Rd. @ Alvin Rd.

Deputies responded to car and bicyclist striking each other at the intersection. Bicyclist was laying on the ground motionless. EMS responded to transport the bicyclist to ECMC for serious injuries. Accident report was completed.


12/24

Open Window

M&T Bank

Deputies were notified by the plow driver at the plaza that M&T Bank was wide open because the window was broken. Deputies arrived to see that the high winds and snow had pushed the plate glass window and frame completely off the building. The bank was filling with blowing snow and cannot be secured. Safe and drawers appeared to be locked. Manager was advised of the situation.

Mental

East River Rd.

Deputies received a call regarding a male with an arterial bleed. Doctor was on scene trying to control the bleeding. Deputies arrived and discovered that the male was trying to hurt himself. He was transported to ECMC on MHL 9.41 and to receiveemergency treatment and surgery.
