ECSO looking for person who struck highway worker and left scene of the accident.

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard is seeking the public’s help in locating the driver of a black SUV that struck a county highway worker Tuesday, June 8, in the Town of Clarence.

Deputies responded to Salt and County roads around 2:30 p.m. for a reported hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. The victim, an Erie County Department of Public Works employee, was in the roadway performing repair work when a black GM SUV passed a road closure sign north on Salt Road and struck the worker. The operator did not stop and continued east on County Road.

The driver is described as an older white male with gray hair and facial hair. He was driving a black Chevy/GMC SUV.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 716.858.2903 and refer to CL# 21-040944.

The male employee sustained minor injuries.
