Volunteer Confidentiality and Conduct Agreement
As a volunteer with Erie County Blotter, you play an essential role in maintaining the integrity and professionalism of our organization. To ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and operational standards, you agree to the following terms:
1. Confidentiality of Information
Volunteers may have access to sensitive or unreleased information, including police reports, communications, and emergency response details. This information must not be disclosed, shared, or used in any manner without explicit authorization from police or first responder authorities.
Breaching confidentiality may result in termination of volunteer status and potential legal action.
2. Funds and Donations
Any funds collected for public assistance, donations, emergency aid, or similar purposes must be logged with the Treasurer of Erie County Blotter.
Failure to do so will result in immediate review and could lead to legal consequences.
3. Incident Scene Conduct
Identification and Visibility:
No volunteer is permitted on an incident scene without wearing an official high-visibility jacket or vest clearly marked with "Erie County Blotter."
Volunteers must carry official credentials at all times and present them upon request.
Access Restrictions:
Volunteers are strictly prohibited from entering any crime or fire scene unless specifically requested by emergency crews to assist.
If access is granted, volunteers must notify the group administrators immediately and document the details of the incident, including names, actions, and location, to protect themselves and the organization.
4. Vehicle Light Usage
Volunteers may use vehicle lights only if they are DOT-approved amber or amber/white lights.
These lights are to be used solely at scenes and are not permitted for use while responding to incidents.

Acknowledgment:
By signing below, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to adhere to the terms outlined above. I acknowledge that failure to comply with these terms may result in the termination of my volunteer status and potential legal action.
