On August 17, 2018 at approximately 6:30 pm Troopers observed an unmarked vehicle with emergency lights traveling at a high rate of speed on State Route 33 in Cheektowaga. The vehicle had emergency style red and white lights activated and other vehicles were moving to the shoulder as it passed. As the vehicle approached the Trooper the emergency lights were turned off. The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified himself as a member of a volunteer fire company. After further investigation the Trooper discovered there was no emergency and the driver was not a member of a fire company. Additionally, a glass smoking pipe with cocaine residue was located in the vehicle.
Louis J Volo Jr, 57 was arrested and charged with criminal impersonation 2nd and criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th and several traffic violations. He was processed and released with a return court date in the town of Cheektowaga Court.
