Police Make Arrest after Second Night of Burglary Spree

[Cheektowaga, NY., September 14, 2022] - Cheektowaga Police arrested 30 year old David Wyatt in the early morning hours of September 14th and were able to connect him to additional crimes from the previous day.  On the morning of Tuesday September 13th officers were sent to multiple addresses on Avery Place and Herbert Avenue in the towns northwest section for multiple reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries.  Reports were taken in these incidents and detectives were assigned the cases.  In one incident, a male on a bicycle could be seen on a Ring doorbell video going through yards.  Midnight shift patrol officers kept an eye on the area the next night.  Just after 4am Wednesday morning, Police Officer Alexandria Over noticed a bicycle matching the one seen in the previous night’s video laying behind the church at 314 Pine Ridge Ave.  Other officers were called to the area and a search began.  Shortly thereafter, a tote bag containing various items of property including a pry barwas located in a yard on Villa Morraine Dr. just a short distance from the church. An open water bottle was found next to the bag.  As police continued to search, Officer Scott Polino located a male in the yard of the Hebert Ave address that backs up to the Villa Morraine address.  The male’s descriptors and clothing matched that of the suspect seen on the video from the night before.  David Wyatt of East Delevan Ave in Cheektowaga was taken into custody and was in possession of crack cocaine.  Inside the tote bag was an Apple Watch identified to have been stolen in a burglary on Avery Place the night before.  Wyatt was booked on charges of Att. Burglary 2nd, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th, Possession of Burglar Tools, and CriminalPossession of Controlled Substance 7th.

Wyatt was held for arraignment.
