AMHERST, NY \u2014<\/strong> Multiple fire companies responded to a significant attached garage fire on Wood Acres Drive in the Town of Amherst Wednesday night, with officials estimating approximately $300,000 in combined structural and contents damage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release from the Amherst Central Fire Alarm Office, Amherst Fire Control received a 911 call at approximately 9:29 p.m. on October 1<\/strong> reporting an attached garage fire. Officials said all occupants were able to get out of the home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The East Amherst Fire Department<\/strong> was the initial responding fire department. East Amherst 9-1, Jeff Terragnoli<\/strong>, served as the officer in charge of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional fire companies called to assist included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Getzville Fire Company
\u2022 Ellicott Creek Volunteer Fire Company
\u2022 Main-Transit Fire Department
\u2022 Clarence Center Volunteer Fire Company
\u2022 Swormville Fire Company<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several additional agencies and organizations also assisted at the scene, including Twin City Ambulance, Amherst Police, Amherst Emergency Management, Amherst Fire Inspectors, National Fuel, National Grid and Anytime Enclosures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire Brought Under Control in Approximately 30 Minutes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Firefighters worked to contain the fire and prevent additional spread through the residence. Amherst officials reported that the fire was declared under control at approximately 9:58 p.m.<\/strong>, roughly 29 minutes after the initial incident time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials estimated approximately $200,000 in damage to the structure<\/strong> and another $100,000 in damage to the contents<\/strong>, bringing the preliminary combined damage estimate to approximately $300,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cause Remains Under Investigation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The cause of the fire had not been determined at the time of the official release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Amherst Fire Inspectors\u2019 Office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire<\/strong>. No cause was listed in the initial press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most importantly, authorities reported that all occupants were outside of the residence following the initial 911 call<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
